We hosted our first AKU Coffee Morning in our Cambridge office on 25th November to celebrate Garrod Day. The day was a great success - we raised lots of money and awareness for AKU and ate lots of cake! Check out our Coffee Morning blog to find out more about the big event.
We also organised and ran a charity raffle at our Coffee Morning - lots of fantastic prizes were donated, including a Cook Italian hamper, Bedouin meal vouchers and a bottle of Glenfiddich whiskey. We would like to say a massive thank you to all the local organisations who very kindly donated prizes for our charity raffle:

With the AKU Coffee Morning less than a month away, this week AKU team members baked some of their own cakes! You can read these recipes in our blog:
Enjoy catching up with your favourite people over a cuppa? Inspired by the Great British Bake Off? Want to do something brilliant to support the AKU Society? Then why not host an AKU coffee morning; a brilliant way to bring together family and friends, increase awareness, and raise money!
All of the proceeds will go to help patients from around the world attend our first ever International Patient Workshop, April 2016. This is an important opportunity for AKU patients to gather together in Liverpool, to share their experiences and learn more about how to cope with the condition.
We hope that you’ll be able to host your event on 25th November 2015, to celebrate the birthday of Sir Archibald Garrad, who discovered AKU in 1901. However, if you’re not able to do it on that day, that’s fine, pick another day that works for you and your guests.
To take part or find out more, please email [email protected] and we'll send you your free Coffee Morning Kit.
Keep your eyes peeled for regular updates, including recipe ideas!
