Online Medical Expert Forum


Do you have any worries about your disease? Do you, or a family member, have a medical mystery you think is related to AKU? Are you unsure how to best manage your disease, or control your pain? Join our online expert forum to speak to the top medical experts on AKU, and get your questions answered.

Our medical expert forum will be held on our PatientsLikeMe community from 21st - 25th September 2015. To join you simply need to have set up a free PatientsLikeMe account here. Once you have done this, you will have access to the alkaptonuria community, and be able to chat to other patients through the online forums.

During the expert week, we will have several medical professional signing up as guests on the forums, and waiting to answer your questions. You can ask a question on any day, at any time, and an expert will get back to you as soon as they can.

Some of the experts will include:

  • Prof. Ranganath - Clinical Director for the National AKU Centre and Chief Investigator for the DevelopAKUre Clinical Trial project.

  • Dr Wendy Introne - Staff Clinician performing clinical research on rare genetic conditions at the National Human Genome Research Institute at the National Institues of Health in the USA.

  • Dr Andrew Jones - Consultant in Anaethesia and Pain Medicine, and Pain Management Doctor for the National Alkaptonuria Centre at the Liverpool Broadgreen Hospital.
