Meet others with AKU, while hearing presentations about pain management, AKU research and an overview of AKU online.
Following the success of our very first patient workshop, we're excited to announce that we’re hosting a second one to run alongside the 7th Annual AKU Conference.
It will be held on the same day and at the same venue as our 7th Annual AKU Conference, which is traditionally focused on research updates from the scientific AKU community.
Patients attending the free workshop will have the opportunity to meet and talk with the medical professionals and researchers involved with AKU, including the DevelopAKUre Consortium, as well as other patients and families affected by AKU.
Our second workshop will be held on Thursday 17th of October, at The Foresight Centre in the University of Liverpool. The day is expected to run from 10am until 4pm, with lunch included.
Presentations will include:
* A guide to pain management, Dr Tom Kennedy – Royal Liverpool University Hospital
* A layman’s guide to AKU research, Hana Ayoob and Oliver Timmis – AKU Society
* An overview of AKU online, Jenni Thorburn – AKU Society
There will also be a further session, which will either include information on movement analysis or a talk from a physiotherapist at the National AKU Centre.
An Opportunity to Dine
Following the patient workshop, attendees are also invited to an evening meal costing £30 a head. Delegates from the 7th Annual Conference will also be attending the dinner, so it will be an excellent opportunity to meet researchers, clinicians and the AKU team.
If you would like to attend the evening dinner, please let Lesley Harrison, our Patient Support Officer, know as soon as possible. This is to ensure that everyone who wants to attend can be accommodated.
For further information or to book a place for the evening meal, please contact Lesley by either emailing [email protected] or phoning 01223 322 897. A brief programme for the workshop will be released nearer the time.
If you would like further information about out 7th Annual AKU Conference, please contact Oliver, our Head of Projects, by emailing [email protected].
