Sponsored Cycle - London to Cambridge

On Sunday 13th September the AKU Society team will be embarking on a full day of cycling (over 70 miles!) from London to Cambridge. The event will be to raise money for an international patient workshop, to be held in Liverpool in April. Patients from all over the world will have the opportunity to learn about their disease from AKU experts, meet one another, and get an update on research.

The cycle will start from The Royal College of Physicians in London on Sunday morning. This is where Archibald Garrod gave his lectures when he first discovered AKU in 1902. As we approach Cambridge, we will follow the DNA trail cycle path in to the city, go past the AKU Society office, and head towards the Cavendish building at the University. This is where DNA was first discovered. We will then end our trip at the Eagle pub in Cambridge for a well deserved drink at the celebration site of Francis Crick and James Watson after they discovered the structure of DNA.

If you would like to join us on this day of cycling, you can sign up your interest by emailing [email protected]. You can sponsor the AKU Society cycling team on our JustGiving event page. You can also donate by text!
